Why do we require an application? Our application process is in response to two of the most common questions our Riders have prior to booking a trip with us:
1) Am I skilled/fit enough to participate in this Ride?
2) Will the other people on my Ride be skilled/fit enough?
Ensuring that you - and the other Riders on your Ride - are a good fit for the Ride selected is of paramount importance to us. We want to help you pick the Ride that's perfect for you, and ensure that everyone booked on a Ride is on the right Ride for them. That's why we want to know a bit more about you - your mountain biking history, where you ride, how often, etc... - before we take your money.
We review every application and if, based on your responses, we think you're a good fit, we'll approve your application and you'll receive a link to place a deposit. If we think you might not be a good fit (either too skilled or not skilled enough for the Ride you chose), then we'll give you a call to discuss your preferences in greater detail.
Please note: our application process isn't about excluding anyone, or making anyone feel like they're not 'good enough' to participate in one of our Rides. It's about ensuring that you end up on the right Ride for you, with people of similar skill, fitness and riding preferences. In the end this ends up being a much better experience for everyone.

Itinerary Disclaimer: While it is our intention to adhere to the itinerary described below, adventure travel can be unpredictable and may result in necessary or desirable alterations to the trails we ride, accommodation we stay in and destinations we visit.
Day 1 . Arrival Day! Bike Building, Yoga and Wine!
Kia Ora! Welcome to New Zealand Mates!
You’ll be arriving into one of NZ’s most sunny and beautiful artsy towns, known as Nelson. Home to delicious Sauvignon Blanc, micro breweries and home grown organic veggies - you'll absolutely love the vibe of this place! Nelson is a favorite destination among many, and it's also known for its epic mountain biking.
Upon arrival, we encourage you to unwind, settle in and rest up for the weeks mountain bike adventure!
Bike rentals will be assigned and those who brought bikes will have assistance for building them. This afternoon, we'll join a local Yoga practice to unwind from the long flight.
Tonight, we'll convene for dinner and get to know each other a little more before we embark on the weeks adventure.
*For North American travelers, we highly recommend arriving in Nelson a day or two early to adjust to the time difference and catch up on needed rest after the long flight. We recommend staying at the Paradiso Luxury Apartments, a short cab ride from the airport.
See the Logistics tab for pick-up times, shuttle info and meeting areas.
Day 2. Ride Kaiteriteri, Abel Tasman National Park and Wine Tasting
Rising to the sounds of Bell birds and fresh ocean air, we'll drive north from Nelson and head over to Motueka in the scenic Tasman Bay.
From here, we’ll make our way over to the start of The Abel Tasman National Park. After gearing up, we’ll hit the trails at one of New Zealand's most stunning beachside areas at the head of Kaiteriteri Beach. The riding at Kaiteriteri offers up beautiful vistas over golden sand beaches, lush native fern filled singletrack and dense pine forests, and finishes by popping us out to the Tasman Sea! You’ll be begging for more.
From the trails, we'll ride straight to our beachside accommodation for the evening.
This area is an all time favourite beachside paradise for locals and international visitors alike.
After a well deserved swim in the ocean, we'll head close by to some local wineries in the area, and savour some delicious Sauvignon Blancs!
Day 3. Heli-biking Old Ghost Road and Kiwi Backcountry hut
Another exciting day ahead, as we’ll be flying high in style with Heli-biking today!
We'll start the day off by making our way from Nelson over to the Wild West Coast, to the old Ghost town of Lyell set in the Lyell Mountain Range.
We'll then gear up for our overnight adventure on The Old Ghost Road. It’s New Zealand's newest and longest backcountry singletrack and it sure is epic!
Our pilot will drop us off in the alpine, and we'll ride to our hut perched on top of the World!
A short ride to our hut, where we'll drop our gear for the night, and then we'll head onwards to a super scenic part of the track called the Skyline Ridge!
Stunning vistas, epic singletrack and a true kiwi backcountry experience awaits you ladies! We’ll stay in a backcountry hut tonight perched in a slice of heaven.
Please Note: The Heli-biking experience requires all bikes to be strapped securely to a rope that hangs under the chopper in flight. Although the bikes are packed with care, it is likely for the bikes to shift during air transport creating scratches on the bikes paint. If you are concerned with your bike getting scratched, you have the option of wrapping your bike in a foam pad which we will supply, and you will then be responsible for riding out with the foam pad in your backpack. Renting a bike through the Add-Ons tab is also an option. Sacred Rides is not responsible for scratches on bikes.
