"Julie and Eduardo were amazing guides & wonderful people! Julie is so positive and has a fantastic "Can Do!" attitude. Her knowledge of the areas we travelled to was extensive, and she suggested incredible restaurants each & every night. I would absolutely love to go on another trip with her guiding!" Why do we require an application?

Our application process is in response to two of the most common questions our Riders have prior to booking a trip with us:

1) Am I skilled/fit enough to participate in this Ride?
2) Will the other people on my Ride be skilled/fit enough?

Ensuring that you - and the other Riders on your Ride - are a good fit for the Ride selected is of paramount importance to us. We want to help you pick the Ride that's perfect for you, and ensure that everyone booked on a Ride is on the right Ride for them. That's why we want to know a bit more about you - your mountain biking history, where you ride, how often, etc... - before we take your money.

We review every application and if, based on your responses, we think you're a good fit, we'll approve your application and you'll receive a link to place a deposit. If we think you might not be a good fit (either too skilled or not skilled enough for the Ride you chose), then we'll give you a call to discuss your preferences in greater detail.

Please note: our application process isn't about excluding anyone, or making anyone feel like they're not 'good enough' to participate in one of our Rides. It's about ensuring that you end up on the right Ride for you, with people of similar skill, fitness and riding preferences. In the end this ends up being a much better experience for everyone.

Sun Salutations on a tropical beach.  White warm sand nestled between your toes.  The crackle of a beachside bonfire off in the distance.  A crisp glass of wine awaits you fireside, ready for shared stories of the days epic mountain bike adventure through the quaint villages of the Guanacaste Province of beautiful Costa Rica.

On this premiere women’s mountain bike adventure, we will guide you from the serenity of the rainforest at the foot of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, to grand waterfalls, natural mineral hot springs and sparkling blue volcanic rivers, to our final destination: the shores of Las Catalinas.

Lush jungle riding, views of tall and majestic volcanoes, scintillating cultural experiences and tropical beaches are just a few of the highlights this amazing Costa Rican mountain bike retreat has to offer!

IS THIS RIDE FOR YOU?

You are an adventure-seeker by day, and a Yogi by night (or willing to try it out!). You love to explore other cultures and try new things. You don't mind getting out of your cultural comfort zone, on bike or water. You're a physically fit woman with intermediate mountain bike skills, happy to pedal 3-4 hours per day. You like the heat and don’t mind some big days of climbing if it means views of volcanoes, lush jungle forest and the ocean.

DAY 1. Welcome to Costa Rica!

We will provide complimentary airport pick-up at 3:00 p.m. as well as complimentary pick-up at 3:45 p.m. from the Hilton Garden Inn by the Liberia International Airport.  At the airport, meet your shuttle adjacent to Customs, just outside the glass doors on the outside pick-up platform.

You will be transported from Liberia International Airport to our mountain eco-lodge, where we encourage you to unwind, settle in and rest up for the week's mountain bike adventure!

At 5:00 p.m., we’ll meet up to build our bikes and review some bike maintenance techniques while we’re at it. Bike rentals will be assigned to those who rented.

Tonight, the group will convene for a delicious dinner and a meet-and-greet, reviewing what our week has in store!

DAY 2.  Ride Oropendula to Jacarundi / Sunset Yoga

Rise and shine!  After an early buffet breakfast, we’ll gear up for the epic day ahead.

Today's mountain bike ride takes us on trails with views of the Rincón de la Vieja and Santa Maria volcanoes, the Guanacaste plains and the Pacific coastline.   We’ll be treated with a soak (or cannonball!) at the base of a beautiful waterfall when we get to the top of this incredible singletrack climb!

Upon completion of our ride, we’ll enjoy a hearty buffet lunch overlooking the rainforest.

The afternoon is all yours today! Enjoy some R&R on a garden side hammock, or check out some of the other optional adventure activities including: horseback riding, canyoning, canopy zip lines, hiking and natural volcanic hot springs and mud pools.

Late afternoon, we’ll convene for a sunset yoga session and wind down from the days adventures.

Tonight, we'll have a fresh and refueling dinner back at the eco-lodge.

DAY 3. Ride Guachipelin Abajo / river tubing / yoga

After an early buffet breakfast, we’ll gear up for another adventure packed day.

We will spend the morning riding more great Costa Rican singletrack then end our ride at the put-in of the Rio Negro.  After some cool refreshments, we'll hop in inner tubes and run the Class II rapids of the Rio Negro Canyon! We’ll refuel back at the eco-lodge with a hearty buffet lunch.

After lunch, we’ll pack up our private shuttle for the short drive over to a neighbouring eco-lodge and spa.  Yes, we said spa!

(At Riders own expense, options include: Hot Stone Massage, Volcanic Mud Facial, Volcanic Mud Wrap...).

Late afternoon, we’ll convene for a sunset yoga session.

Tonight, we'll enjoy a delicious group dinner at the lodge.

DAY 4. The Rincon de la Vieja to Rio Azul “Epic Challenge” / Hot Springs

(Please Note: This is the most challenging ride of the trip! That said, the latter 1/3 of todays ride is on a backroad where Riders will have the opportunity to hop in the van should the ol’ legs not have the juice to complete it.)

After an early breakfast at the eco-lodge, we’ll pack up our shuttle and wave goodbye to our luggage.

Today's main adventure is a point-to-point ride. We’ll head out from the doorstep of the eco-lodge and journey through remote backroads to our next lodge. This ride travels along the flanks of the majestic Rincon de la Vieja Volcano through lush mountain rainforest. It includes some tough climbs, rolling hills and excellent downhill sections.

We’ll arrive to a well deserved lunch.

After lunch, lace up your hiking shoes/sandles and hike to Rio Azul Waterfall and later to the Natural Mineral Hot Springs.  These particular hot springs are a one-of-kind jewel, considered to have unique healing powers. Time to recover those mountain biking muscles!

Tonight, we'll enjoy a delicious group dinner at the lodge.

DAY 5. Ride Donkey Trail / ocean Island SUP / beachside yoga

We’ll enjoy a relaxing morning at the lodge before packing up our private shuttle.

Along with our bikes, we’ll get dropped off at the trailhead for the Donkey Trail and enjoy a fun, flowy downhill into Las Catalinas.

After lunch, we’ll enjoy an afternoon at the beach. The SUP around the islands is a must!

This afternoon, we’ll settle in to our accommodation by the ocean, along Costa Rica's northern Pacific Coast.

Before dinner, we’ll enjoy an ocean-side yoga session.

DAY 6. Ride Pura Vida Mountain Bike trail system / Surf town of Tamarindo

After early morning sunrise yoga, we’ll hit the trails of the Pura Vida Mountain Bike Trail System.

We’ll make our way through the scenic trails at the Pura Vida Mountain Bike Trail System with views of the Pacific Ocean, beautiful bays and the Catalina Islands. This ride will challenge your climbing skills.

After a beachside lunch, we’ll get cleaned up and head over to the surfer town Tamarindo. A hot spot for surfing and shopping alike.

For those with a little more energy to spare, we'll arrange for an optional private surf lesson for the afternoon. Hang ten!

For those with a soft spot for shopping, stroll along the boutique shops where you can find everything from gorgeous fine jewelry to beach towels and local coffee.

Tonight, we’ll dine in  Tamarindo and enjoy a little night life!
