By popular demand, we've added this incredible trip in the Canadian Rockies for families. There's over 80 incredible trails in Fernie for the riders, lots of exciting activities for non-riding spouses and kids, plus accommodation, meals and extra activities like whitewater rafting, hiking and more!
The whole family will stay at our lodge in West Fernie. Everyone will have breakfasts and dinners together, as well as 1/2 day hike and a day of whitewater rafting together.
Ride incredible British Columbia trails, vacation with your family, and meet other families from around the world!

Day 1 (Saturday). Arrive Calgary/Fernie
Your guide will meet you at Calgary Airport at 4:00 pm (at the information desk on domestic arrivals level, gate A) and drive the group to our lodge in Fernie. This is our base for the next week of Fernie trail riding. Tonight we'll dine in one of Fernie's excellent restaurants.
Note: dinners are not included in the tour price.
Day 2 (Sunday). Alpine hiking + Mountain Biking
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY: We'll start off with an activity for the whole family today, as we head out for a spectacular morning hike through old growth forest at Island Lake Lodge. We'll have lunch together at the lodge deck, overlooking the spectacular Lizard Range, then split up for the afternoon.
PM - RIDERS: We'll start the mountain biking portion of our trip with a thrilling ride through an old-growth forest before descending down to Fernie Provincial Park, where we'll tackle a challenging climb up to Cedar Bowl, followed by a screaming descent!
PM - NON-RIDERS: We'll continue hiking with a a great hike up the Spineback Ridge. When we reach the top, we'll have spectacular views of the Lizard Range, Island Lake and the town of Fernie.
Days 2-4 (Monday & Tuesday). Riding in Fernie
Fernie is one the best towns in British Columbia for mountain biking. Over 80 handbuilt trails surround the town in all directions. There are epic ridge rides, fast cruisers, technical downhills, bermed trails, you name it! There's something for everyone.
NON-RIDERS: On Monday, we'll have a full day mountain bike coaching session for kids and spouses. Our certified coaches will have you riding like a pro in no time! Bike rentals and lessons included.
On Tuesday, we'll have another spectacular alpine hike, with waterfalls, caves and maybe even some mountain goats!
Day 5 (Wed.) Fernie Alpine Resort
Everyone heads up to world-famous Fernie Alpine Resort today. One of North America's top ski resorts, F.A.R. is also a world-class summer resort, with lots to do for the whole family.
RIDERS: For the riders, we'll spend the full day riding lift-accessed downhills. There are over 40 trails to choose from at the resort, ranging from mellow cruisers to flat-out extreme!
NON-RIDERS: we'll take a ride up the chairlift and spend some time exploring the alpine scenery at the top of the lift. We'll meet with the riders for lunch and then spend the afternoon on an educational interpretive hike to discover the flora and fauna of the Rocky Mountains.
Day 6 (Thurs) More Fernie Riding
We'll barely have scratched the surface of the Fernie riding scene, so it's back to the cross-country trails surrounding town. For those that are interested, we can also hit the Fernie skills park with our certified mountain bike coaches and work on specific skills like braking, cornering, descending, stunts, steeps... anything you want! We can also take a day trip out of town to Cranbrook/Kimberly, about an hour away, where a whole other network of trails beckons.
NON-RIDERS: we've left this day open to allow you to get what you want from Fernie. Options aplenty! There's more mountain biking, horseback riding, fly fishing, nature hikes, hotsprings, pottery classes... you name it. Our adventure specialists will be happy to help you arrange some Fernie fun!
Day 7 (Fri.) Whitewater Rafting
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY: After breakfast at the lodge, we'll all meet the folks from Canyon Raft Company for a full day of thrilling whitewater rafting on the Elk River. The run takes us through the spectacular, spooky Elk Canyon, with lots of thrills along the way!
After rafting, we'll all head back to town for a group wrap-up party at one of the local restaurants, and share stories and look back on a fantastic week in the Rocky Mountains.
Day 8. (Sat.) Return to Calgary
The shuttles depart at 11:00 a.m., arriving at Calgary Airport at approximately 2:30 pm.
