New Zealand provided the best mountain biking experience of my life and Sacred Rides know how to do it right! David Houghton

Why do we require an application?

Our application process is in response to two of the most common questions our Riders have prior to booking a trip with us:

1) Am I skilled/fit enough to participate in this Ride?
2) Will the other people on my Ride be skilled/fit enough?

Ensuring that you - and the other Riders on your Ride - are a good fit for the Ride selected is of paramount importance to us. We want to help you pick the Ride that's perfect for you, and ensure that everyone booked on a Ride is on the right Ride for them. That's why we want to know a bit more about you - your mountain biking history, where you ride, how often, etc... - before we take your money.

We review every application and if, based on your responses, we think you're a good fit, we'll approve your application and you'll receive a link to place a deposit. If we think you might not be a good fit (either too skilled or not skilled enough for the Ride you chose), then we'll give you a call to discuss your preferences in greater detail.

Please note: our application process isn't about excluding anyone, or making anyone feel like they're not 'good enough' to participate in one of our Rides. It's about ensuring that you end up on the right Ride for you, with people of similar skill, fitness and riding preferences. In the end this ends up being a much better experience for everyone.

Itinerary Disclaimer: While it is our intention to adhere to the itinerary described below, adventure travel can be unpredictable and may result in necessary or desirable alterations to the trails we ride, accommodation we stay in and destinations we visit.

Day 1: Arrival in Blenheim, ride queen charlotte track

Kia Ora!  Welcome to New Zealand mates!

You’ll be arriving into one of NZ’s sunniest and warmest towns, home to tasty sauvignons blancs in the sun drenched valleys of The Marlborough Region.

We’ll start this trip of a lifetime in the lobby of the The Blenheim Palms Motel at 9:30 a.m. Please be dressed for riding with your bike assembled and ready to shred at 9:30 a.m.

We’ll hop in the shuttle and head north to the head of The Marlborough Sounds.

After driving through vineyards and lush countryside, we’ll gear up to ride the epic Queen Charlotte Track!  We’ll ride one of the prettiest and most fun parts of the trail by riding through beautiful native New Zealand fern forests, past stunning green bays and golden sandy beaches.

We’ll then arrive to the remote and beautiful Lochmara Lodge, right in the heart of The Marlborough Sounds, where we'll fall asleep lulled by the sounds of the ocean.

Day 2: Scenic Boat Ride, Rameka Track

Rising to the sounds of Bell birds and the smell of the ocean, we’ll embark on a chartered boat ride through the sunken river valleys of the stunning Marlborough Sounds. Once back at the van, well drive to Nelson & Motueka in the scenic Tasman Bay. From here we’ll make our way over to the start of Golden Bay. We’ll warm up with a loop on the fun Canaan Downs Track,  then shred the famous Rameka Track. This trail winds through beautiful native bush before heading down through open pasture land then pine forest before hitting native forest again. You’ll be begging for more. This track has been known to render riders “speechless”. We’ll ride into the hippie town of Takaka, where your worries will be washed away!

Day 3: Heli Biking, Old Ghost Road

After an early start, we will head west to the ghost town of Lyell and get ready for take off with the helicopter! We’re heading into New Zealand’s newest and most epic backcountry single track ever built, connecting old historic mining tracks with new purpose built trails. We’ll get to flown into Ghost Lake Hut, perched on top of the world, before riding an awesome trail that winds through the magical forests and alpine ridge lines of the Wild West Coast. It's bound to have you grinning from ear to ear!

Day 4: one epic descent
After waking to the sounds of the wilderness, and enjoying the long white clouds rolls off the ridgelines, we’ll enjoy a delicious homecooked breakfast before taking off on a wicked downhill. Enjoy NZ’s longest downhill: 30km of ripping through a variety of terrain, forests, views and magic. It just keeps going and going and you'll be begging for more. Once back at the van we’ll head north to the art and craft brew capital of the South Island, the funky town of Nelson.

Day 5: Coppermine saddle and dunn mountain

Rising early to the smell of fresh flat white coffees, we’ll be embarking on one of Nelson's most classic mtb tracks. Here we’ll gear up and take on the local’s Coppermine Saddle. A grunt of a 1000m climb, starting in pine trees, riding through native bush and then rising into the dry alpine with views across the Tasman Bay, this ride is a real goodie! Only to enjoy an awesome flowy red rocked downhill and back through Fern Gully! We'll hop in the river for a swim to cool off, then ride back into Nelson Township for a cold craft brew in one of our favorite apres-ride hang outs, before one delicious farewell dinner together.

DAY 6: Free morning, nelson goodbyes

This morning is a free morning for you to enjoy the funky town of Nelson, as it has lots to offer off the saddle. Between the organic Markets, loads of cool cafés, beaches and pubs, you'll get to enjoy some time to explore. Your guides will drive you to the airport for 2pm or earlier, so packing up your bikes will need to be taken care of sometime before your guides pick you up. A good idea would be to stick around Nelson for an extra day to discover the excellent mountain bike scene.
