MTB U Evening Skills Sessions in the Don Valley - B.A. Level

Our B.A. Level certificate is designed for beginners with no experience or less than 1 year of mountain biking experience.

Courses take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights on the Don Valley trails in Toronto.  After each session, we'll head to the café at Gears
Bike Shop for snacks, a few drinks, and socializing with other Riders.

Sessions start at 6:15 pm at Gears Bike Shop in Leaside at 109 Vanderhoof Ave. Click on the 'Logistics' tab for more details.

COURSES/MODULES

  1. You & Your Bike: basics of bike set-up, tire pressure, how the bike works, ready/neutral position, slow speed balance, braking control.
  2. Braking/Cornering: understanding braking and traction, safe cornering.
  3. Climbing/Descending: proper body positioning for climbing and descending, gearing, weight transfer for traction and control
  4. Technical Skills: intro to riding technical terrain such as roots, rocks, and tight turns.  Also choosing safe lines.
  5. Obstacles: how to handle small trail obstacles such as logs, bridges and ramps.
