How does the contest work?
The contest consists of two rounds: 1) the voting round 2) the judging round. From now until July 31, 2009, upload your video at our contest page.

• On September 30, the top 8 highest ranked videos (minimum 20 rankings) and the top 2 most viewed videos will move on to the judging round. Invite as many people as you can to view and rank your video by e-mailing it to your friends and using our share features.
• The judges will rank their top 3 videos by October 15, with each video getting 5 points for a #1 ranking, 3 points for a #2 ranking and 1 point for a #3 ranking.
• The highest point total wins, and the winner will be announced on October 15, 2009.

What is the prize?
The Grand Prize consist of a spot on any one of our Inca Trail XC, Inca Adventure Freeride and Awesome Andes XC trips in Peru, along with airfare from major airports in North America (and select airports in Europe and South America)* and use of a high-end DeVinci bike for the duration of the trip.
*airfare from Toronto, New York, Miami, Los Angeles or Dallas, Barcelona, and Frankfurt, as well as most airports in South America

Who are the judges?
The judging panel is comprised of good folks in the mountain bike industry:

• Mike Brcic, president, Sacred Rides Mountain Bike Holidays
• Johanna Weintrager, BC head coach (women's and co-ed camps), Sacred Rides Mountain Bike Adventures
• Rob Fex, head instructor, Hardwood Ski and Bike
• Travis Hauck, DeVinci bikes
• Simon Gauthier, DeVinci bikes
• Heather Stanley, endurance mountain biking coach, Ontario

What should the video be about?
It's about mountain biking, the sport we all love.  Show us how much you love the sport in 3 minutes or less (minimum 1 minute). This could be clips of you nailing your favourite stunts. Or helmetcam of your favourite trail. Or you singing a song about mountain biking, or writing a poem. Be creative. Be bold. 

How do I get my friends to vote?
After you've uploaded your video, you can use the e-mail feature to import e-mails from your e-mail account (GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc...) and send them a message letting them know about your video and to vote on it.

What are the limits for video?
1-3 minutes and 100 MB. Most common file formats are supported.

I don't live in North America or Europe.  Can I still get the free airfare if I win?
Unfortunately, the free airfare only applies to major North American, select European and South American airports (where LAN flies) as outlined above. If you live outside of these areas and you win the contest, you'll still get the free trip and DeVinci bike during the trip. We just can't offer you airfare.

Are there any age/skill restrictions?
You need to be at least 14 years of age to participate in any of our Peru adventures. You also need to be skilled enough to be able to ride the terrain. For more information, visit the tour pages of any of our Peru trips.

Can I enter more than once?
You can enter as many videos as you feel like making.  Please don't just take the same footage and re-edit it a dozen times, however. If we catch you doing this, we'll disqualify all of your videos.

Do I have to become a member of your network to upload my video?
Yes. We are using the KickApps platform and this is part of the requirement of uploading videos.

What happens once I become a member?
All entrants to our contest will automatically be added to our monthly newsletter, the World Wide Ride Guide. By subscribing to the newsletter, you'll get periodic updates on new trips, last-mintue discounts, other contests, and lots of cool information about mountain biking around the planet. You can unsubscribe at any time and do not need to be susbscribed to be notified if you win.
