SACRED RIDES COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS AND PROJECTS INTERNSHIP

We're looking to bring on a volunteer intern in early January for a 6-month part-time internship (10 hours/week). No, you won't be someone we just kick around and give lots of envelopes to lick. We're going to give you respect, a great experience with an amazing company, challenging and interesting projects, and some good cred for your resumé. And if you do a good job, we promise you'll be top of the list when we do our next round of hiring in 2010.

Sacred Rides Mountain Bike Adventures is one of the world's leading adventure travel companies, committed to responsible tourism that helps foster healthy, thriving communities. We are seeking a Community Partnerships and Projects Coordinator to help support our community projects program. 
 
 In 2010, a portion of our revenues will go to support local environmental and development projects in the areas where we offer trips, such as school-based or microfinance projects.  We are also developing an online solution to allow our Riders to engage with and support our partner projects by making a donation and doing additional fundraising through their networks.  By investing our revenues and engaging our Riders we can have a significant positive impact on the communities where we ride!

THE POSITION

The Community Partnership and Projects Coordinator will be working on various projects in the following areas:

• Research community projects and NGOs in our destinations and future destinations, including: British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Utah, Guatemala, Chile, Peru, Croatia, Slovenia, Turkey, and Brasil
• Develop an intuitive database of potential projects, highlighting categories and potential challenges, etc.
• Develop efficient system for frequent communications between project partners and customers 
• Research and develop user-friendly fundraising methods that encourage client participation

What you need to bring with you

• Knowledge of and interest in international development
• Sincere commitment to building strong partnerships with communities
• Persistence and curiosity to help determine the best opportunities
• Computer and online communications savvy
• Strong English speaking and writing skills
• A positive attitude!

Extras (nice to have but not required):
• Experience working in international development, or directly with diverse communities
• Mountain biking, and travel experiences
• Spanish speaking and writing skills

RENUMERATION AND PERKS

This is a 6-month volunteer position. If we like your work, there is a strong possibility this position will lead to paid employment.
